Research into the factors associated with a SCM as a holistic philosophical strategy versus a functional approach.  Basically what gets lost when functional and can we ever truly implement it as a philosophy.
Need to show you have researched the viewpoint from both sides of the debate

Range of sources – include books, journal articles, business news articles
A range of industry sectors have been looked at
Up to date sources (2005, 2010) have been used as well as past research

Need to critically evaluate the literature 
Compare and contrast researchers views and findings
This is what identifies this as your work as a researcher
Discuss advantages and disadvantages and offer a balanced discussion.
