Aim of Assessment
This assessment item requires students to understand the importance of the primary health prevention services that are available in the community. Further, students will describe how undertaking a service learning opportunity will assist in their understanding of these services and how people can use them to stay well.

Details
Write a 500 word essay focusing on what you have learned in class, and through your research, about service learning. In your answer:

1.  Locate a community health based service on the web.
2.  Describe how the community service, as described on the site, promotes the health of individuals, families and/or communities.
3.  Describe the aims and benefits of service learning for nursing students.
4.  Provide three (3) personal learning objectives for your future service learning experience.

Points 1, 2 & 3 above must be answered using scholarly writing that is, full sentences and paragraphs.
Point 4 can be written as dot points or lists.

To attract a satisfactory grade in this assessment task, all points (1-4 above) must be answered and 5 of the 8 criteria listed on page 18 must attract a satisfactory grade.

Completing this assessment item will enable you to demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes 1 & 6 for this unit.
