Introduction: Conflict is a common phenomenon, the conflict on team occurs at any time of all possible. Some conflicts are obvious, some inconspicuous, some even endanger the enterprise’s survival, some aren't worth mentioning. Conflict is unavailable in an organization when you contact with others. The constructive conflicts are good for an organization’s diversity; however, the devastating conflicts are adverse for an organization2. So we should treat conflicts in a rational way, especially for the constructive ones. Here we focus on the methods of dealing with constructive conflict.

Here are some activities to help trainers understand the nature of conflicts, and take acknowledge of some useful methods of dealing with conflict, so that to be a good conflict manager.

When faced with a conflict, a conflict management table can help you to analyze the problem and solve it in a rational way:

 Define a conflict and complete the Conflict Management Table

 Did you think of the reason why you facing a conflict?
 Did you feel surprise at concerning of the opposite side?

Infer

 What are the real reasons of developing conflict when you make contact with others?
 What type of conflict do you think is the most difficult situation to deal with? How would you like to deal with it?

Transfer

 List some good examples of dealing with conflict.
 Could you transfer the good examples to your current workplace?

Developing a Negotiation

Method
As Theodore Kheel summarized 3 “Negotiations are about changing the status quo.  Unless both parties can receive something more than what the status quo provides, there is nothing for them to negotiate.”

When the conflict is too serious to manage in a peace way, negotiation is very important to deal with it. Good skills and techniques can be helpful to achieve the win-win situation in a negotiation. Each group in the negotiation should pay attention to the following tips and try to apply them into the negotiation process. The entire activities will take about 60 minutes and it’s required to reach a win-win result.

1. Preparation before entering a negotiation includes deciding a BATNA. That is the Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement. It means the value or point at which you will choose no agreement over a settlement.

2. Consider appropriate ground rules.

3. Develop an initial offer.

4. Anticipate posturing.

5. Decide if the negotiation is a single issue or multiple issues and if it includes two or more parties and the appropriate strategy. Also decide if an impasse occurs how it should be resolved.

To be a Mediator
Method
When the conflict happened between others and they can’t deal with it in a peace way, how could you play a role of mediator to help them solve the problem?

Simulating a situation that two guys fall in a conflict. A trainer plays a mediator’s role to solve the problem. The entire activities are about 60 minutes.

Here we list some points when you do the mediating, please follow it.

1. Explaining the reasons and goals for mediation.

2. Explaining your own position-playing a bridging role.

3. Creating the atmosphere of mutual trust, easing conflicts scene at any time.

4. To help both sides find common points to solve conflict, but not the different solutions.

5. Recording the focus of the speech, and let both sides confirm it.

6. Printing and distributing the project content to the both sides of mediation, responsible for signature.

 What do you have learned from the mediating? List some skills or tips should be paid attention.

 Do you have been a mediator in workplace? What have you done to deal with it?
