EB1300: ASSIGNMENT 1: Individual Business Report
760 words (worth 40% of your module mark)
 Task
Select a local company (this can include foreign companies with local offices) that you are familiar with and write a report explaining how external macro-environmental forces affect it.  Examine current and potential macro-environmental events or trends in the local (Guangdong) macro-environment and present evidence of these with in-text citations and a full bibliography.

Report Structure
1) Introduction [80 words]
a. Briefly introduce the company.  Information you should include:
i. Type of business (industry, product/service)
ii. Primary business activity (what they do)
iii. Location
2) Political and Legal Factors [150 words]
a. Identify political and legal factors which affect the business, explain how they affect it and comment on the significance of those effects.

a. Identify economic factors which affect the business, explain how they affect it and comment on the significance of those effects.
4) Socio-Cultural Factors [150 words]
a. Identify socio-cultural factors which affect the business, explain how they affect it and comment on the significance of those effects.
5) Technological Factors [150 words]
a. Identify technological factors which affect the business, explain how they affect it and comment on the significance of those effects.
6) Conclusion [80 words]
a. Briefly summarise how macro-environmental factors affect the business.
b. Briefly evaluate the overall significance of the macro-environmental factors for the business.
7) List of References
a. Use the Harvard system that you have studied in EF1700.

Deadline = 11:30am Monday 18th January 2010.  Hand in your report to Office 201 in International College (Richard’s desk).  You may submit your report earlier directly to your teacher.  Assignments submitted after the deadline will be recorded and penalised according to regulations in the Students Handbook!
