Assignment Two – Individual report (70% of module grade)
This assignment (end-of-module assessment) allows you to demonstrate that you have achieved the final three learning outcomes of the module that is that you are able to:
• Research the most significant academic writings on the impact of culture on international business and evaluate the implications of their findings in a given situation
• Assess the issues arising for an organisation, in both the strategic and the functional areas of management, created by its operating across several countries
• Make recommendations derived from this assessment
You are working for a British multinational company in household goods and home furnishings industry. http://www.ukassignment.org/liuxuezuoyedaixie/meiguozuoyedaixie/Your company is considering investing in a foreign country (choose one which is familiar to you). You are required to write a report for your line manager outlining the following:
• Analyse the differences between your home country – the UK and the foreign country which you chose in terms of political, legal and economic environment that might have an impact on your company, with recommendations on how to minimize potential political and economic risks
• Examine the cultural differences between the two countries in an appropriate academic framework, with recommendations on how any cultural problems can be minimized
• Discuss the issues that are likely to arise in the foreign country in the two functional areas of marketing and human resource management, with recommendations on how to successfully manage marketing and human resource management in the foreign country context
This assignment requires you to demonstrate that you can analyse issues facing an organisation in its international activities, priorities these issues and make appropriate recommendations based upon your analysis. You will be expected to use supporting theoretical frameworks and concepts to structure your analysis and to be able to justify the use of these frameworks.#p#分页标题#e#
Your Individual Report should be no longer than 2,000 words (allowance of 10% above and below this figure), must be attached by the filled CA1 form and submitted to the Business School Registry Office by Tue 22 Dec 2009.

80+ As below plus:
Outstanding work - contains accurate, relevant material, demonstrates understanding of complex subject matter & is able to view it in a wider context. Shows originality & confidence in analysing and criticising assumptions, is aware of the limits of knowledge. Likely to add new insights to the topic discussed. Evidence of extensive research, uses & presents references effectively. Outstanding quality in terms of organisation, structure, use & flow of language, grammar, spelling, format, presentation, diagrams, tables, etc.
70-79 As below plus:
Outstanding work - contains accurate, relevant material, demonstrates understanding of complex subject matter & is able to view it in a wider context. Shows originality & confidence in analysing and criticising assumptions, is aware of the limits of knowledge. Uses & presents references effectively. Excellent in terms of organisation, structure, use & flow of language, grammar, spelling, format, presentation, diagrams, tables, etc.
60-69 As below plus:
Very good work - contains most of the information required, is accurate & relevant & demonstrates understanding of the subject matter & attempts to view it in a wider context. Shows some originality of thought with good critique & analysis assumptions, is aware of the limits of knowledge. Well researched, good use & presentation of references. Very good in terms of organisation, structure, use & flow of language, grammar, spelling, format, presentation, diagrams, tables, etc.
50-59 As below plus:
Work that attempts to address the topic with some understanding & analysis, key aspects of the subject matter covered. Research extends to primary sources. Appropriately cited and presented references. Satisfactory presentation with respect to presentation, organisation, language, grammar, spelling, format, presentation, diagrams, tables, etc. The majority of students might normally be expected to fall within this range.
40-49 Adequate work which attempts to address the topic with limited understanding & analysis. Some research using texts, Internet & key reference sources with reference citation and presentation according to convention. An attempt to follow directions regarding organisation, structure, use & flow of language, grammar, spelling, format, diagrams, tables, etc.
30-39 FAIL Anything which is inadequate in most or all of the following: length, content, structure, analysis, expression, argument, relevance, and presentation. Work in this range attempts to address the question/problem but is substantially incomplete and deficient.
