Wal-Mart has been improving its technology ever since it was first founded in 1962. Wal-Mart has also taken steps to simplify their processes for their employees, as well as ensuring they do not violate the rights of both their employees and stakeholders. Wal-Mart holds the record for the most prevalent retailer in the world, the largest grocery retailer in the world, and the biggest private employer in the world. With such records, Wal-Mart has to ensure they do not infringe any of their employees' or stakeholder's rights. One of Wal-Mart's primary technologies was their inventory system. Their inventory system not only helped prevent overstocking, but also formed further jobs and cut down on the processes. Numerous years later, Wal-Mart enhanced its inventory system once more. They began using radio tags to keep track of garments so that it was easier to discover which sizes of a particular garment were missing. Again, making it easier for their employees while still improving their technologies. At the moment, Wal-Mart is presently testing an iPhone checkout system which utilizes their present self-checkout system in order to speed up checkout times. This could result in an increase in pay wages, since the requirement for added employees will be reduced. For Wal-Mart's current employees, There is a web based service which allows employees to view their schedule, observe health benefit information, examine paycheck information, check Wal-Mart information and news, and provides a social networking thread. With every one of these technologies Wal-Mart employs, they still manage to maintain the rights of their employees and stakeholders.

Wal-Mart was primarily founded on October 31st, 1962 by a man by the name of Sam Walton. Since then, Wal-Mart has developed into what is known as the world's second largest public corporation (Fortune). It has also claimed the number one spot for the largest retailer in the world. Wal-Mart is also the leading grocery retailer in the world, generating $258 billion in one year from grocery sales (Zimmerman). Additionally, Wal-Mart is also the world's biggest private employer, with over two million people employed. Wal-Mart has 9,600 stores located around the world in 28 different countries (Naidu-Ghelani). With impressive records Wal-Mart has at the present, they have plenty to deal with to make certain their technological advances do not violate the rights of its employees and their stakeholder groups.

One of the initial things Wal-Mart has done to assist with its growth, is the use of information technology. Wal-Mart used to have a problem with keeping up with other companies seeing as the other companies' prices were lower than Wal-Mart's. To resolve this issue, Wal-Mart created a point-of-sale system. A point-of sale system is a computerized system which identifies each item sold, locates its price within the database, generates a receipt for the customer, and stores this information for future use when analyzing sales and recording inventory. This entire system helps to keep Wal-Mart from overstocking their products by displaying which merchandise is selling slowly (Alter). This helped gain Wal-Mart a massive advantage since they were able to lower their prices since the system was put into motion. This form of technology has not in any way desecrated the rights of its employers or stakeholders. In fact, this system only created more jobs for people. Currently, Wal-Mart has more than 3,500 United States citizens employed in the IT division (Technology). The system also helped take some of the workload off of their employees because they have less to unpack and stock with this system in place.

Wal-Mart is an innovator when it comes to keeping track of inventory. They are continuously forming new methods of tracking their stock and figuring out what is missing. One of Wal-Mart's more current technologies is a radio tag to keep track of clothing. These radio tags are placed on individual garments, such as a pair of jeans, which can be read by a hand-held scanner. This aids Wal-Mart's employees to easily discover which size of a certain piece of clothing is missing. This technology makes certain that Wal-Mart's shelves are optimally stocked. Previously to the use of radio tags, Wal-Mart was using RFID tags, which stored numerical identification codes to track pallets of their products. It is believed that this new form of technology will not only help track inventory easier, but it may also help out to prevent theft from their own employees (Bustillo). This technology benefits all parties involved with Wal-Mart. It not only provides potential for greater profit by watching inventory closely, but it also provides employees with an easier and more efficient method of restocking their shelves. Wal-Mart continues to advance its current inventory system, but also keeps their employees in mind when developing these new methods.

Wal-Mart is currently testing a new feature which will make it easier for consumers to buy Wal-Mart's products and checkout efficiently. Wal-Mart has developed the iPhone checkout system. This system will allow shoppers to scan the items they wish to pay for by means of their iPhones. The shoppers can then pay at a self-checkout counter, which is another one of Wal-Mart's advancing technologies which is already in position Both the self-checkout counter and the iPhone checkout system are intended to minimize checkout times, as well as reducing associated labor costs (Wal-Mart). What this means for its employees is, they will be given substantially less workload. With Wal-Mart being the world's largest retailers, their stores are naturally eventful for the majority of the day. Taking advantage of Wal-Mart's present technology, the self-checkout counter, with the possibly upcoming iPhone checkout system, Wal-Mart employees will not have to work as hard as before. This possibly will also mean pay raises might be in order since Wal-Mart will not need as large a workforce as usual.

As technology became more advanced and personal computers became standard, Wal-Mart created web based services which employees can make use of. The web based services allows employees to log into any computer to view work related information such as their schedule, health benefit information, and paycheck information. Additionally, the web based services offer access to news and information regarding Wal-Mart. There is even a social networking thread where employees are capable of sharing posts, such as stories or blogs, about how they feel as employees working for Wal-Mart (Shepley). This form of technology provides knowledge and freedom to its employees. This service permits employees to make certain that all of their information is correct. An example is if an employee obtains a paycheck which may be inaccurate. With the services provided, the employee is able to view and analyze the issue. It is also convenient if an employee's schedule is forgotten or misplaced. The social networking thread as part of their web based service is shocking. It is uncommon for a company to allow its employees to post how they feel as a worker for their own company. Most likely, this service is given so that employers can observe if there is an area which they need to improve upon in order to keep their workers happy.

Wal-Mart guarantees that its employees' and stakeholders' rights are not broken when implementing new technologies for the company. Wal-Mart claims records for being the largest retailer, grocery retailer, and private employer in the world. With numerous employees hired, Wal-Mart needs to pay attention to its employees' and stakeholders' rights. Wal-Mart's first progress in technology was with its inventory system which prohibited overstocking and shaped extra jobs. Wal-Mart then started using radio tags to assist in tracking with which sizes of a particular garment were missing from its shelves, simplifying the process for its employees. Looking into the future, Wal-Mart plans to release an iPhone checkout system which involves their current self-checkout systems. It is possible Wal-Mart may increase pay wages as a result of this new technology. Wal-Mart employees also have a web based service which allows them to check their employment information such as their schedule, health benefit information, and paycheck information. The web based service also allows employees to post about their experiences as an employee working at Wal-Mart on the social networking thread. Wal-Mart has been improving its technology over the years to become the successful retailer that it is today, but they also lend a hand to their employees and avoid going against their rights.#p#分页标题#e#
