1 Coursework: Current Issues in Financial Management  – 50%
Coursework topic:
You are required to write an essay on the topic of long-term finance.
‘Provide a critical evaluation of the long term financing strategy of an organization with which you are familiar.’
Review the long-term financing patterns of a selected company and critically assess the company’s rationale for its financing mix in the context of relevant long-term financing theories. You should also apply the theories to the analysis of your chosen company.
Number of Words: 2,500
Note:
There are more than sufficient companies so no two students may use the same company. A list will be available for you to list the companies on which you will do the discussion. Students may not select to use a company already chosen by another student. First come, first choice. If you change your mind you must cross out your original entry and re-enter your name and company in the next available space.
The aim of this assignment question is essentially one of investigation and analysis. The assignment question seeks to facilitate an application of contemporary financial management theory/issues within an empirical perspective. Assignments will be marked as follows:

50% - 59% mark:

3 Academic Dishonesty and Plagiarism
All work that is submitted for assessment must be your own work. Academic dishonesty is an attempt to engage in deception or fraud and will be penalised accordingly. It is a very serious offence. It is important that you have read and thoroughly understood the section entitled ‘Plagiarism’ in the ‘Hull University Business School Student Handbook’ and that you have read and understood the ‘Code of Practice on the Use of Unfair Means’ which is published on the University of Hull website.
The mark spread is only an indication; you may find that the circumstances of your enquiry rightly do not follow this split. Your assignment will be marked as a complete report. A penalty may be deducted from any who grossly and unfairly exceed the word limit set.
The specified deadline applies to the submission of both the electronic and paper copy of the assignment.
