The computer system will need to store information on all the library resources which can be taken out by members, member details and which member has borrowed which library resource. Whilst the concept of the library initial revolved around the lending of books, it was decided that it should be extended to CDs and DVDs. All resources are donated to the library free of charge. Each resource that is received is catalogued and given a unique identifier. The information system that you design must hold information about every resource that can be lent. In the case of a book, it would be the usual information such as title, author, ISBN etc. In the case of CDs it would be the name of the album, the artist/s etc. And for DVDs it would be the title, age it is suitable for, running time, etc. You need to remember that there might be more than one copy of a book, CD, or DVD.

 

Only members of the library can take out library resources and the new computer system must be able to store details on all members. Members are either adult members who are over 18 years old, or child members, who are under 18 years old. A child member requires a parent or guardian to give permission for a child to become a member.一个学生成员需要在父母或监护人下，才能够拥有会员的权限。

 

A library resource can be borrowed for up to three weeks and after that a fine will be charged. For each day that a resource is not returned after a due date, a charge of 10p a day is levied for the first 14 days. After 14 days, the member will be charged the full retail price of replacing the resource.
